Fellow designers Courtney Goode (GLS) and Breeze Outlaw (Sasaki) partnered for an RFQ for the Barbara Jordan Memorial in Houston, Texas. The two developed an approach centered on community outreach, interpretive art, and cultural identity, which was selected as the alternate semi-finalist for the award. Their proposed approach was to involve the community in identifying programmatic needs and aesthetic qualities while developing a designed space that incorporates symbolism, meaning, and interactivity into design materials. The project aimed to be rooted in Houston’s 4th Ward and the African American Library at teh Gregory School.
