Ramble Lane

Austin, TX // 2019 // Residential // Budget: $40,000

This striking and modern landscape design centers on a linear graphic theme with native drought-tolerant plants and a local material palette. The Ramble Lane Residence taps into a hip South Austin vibe while solving key client needs and reconnecting the site to Central Texas native plants, pollinator habitats, and local construction materials. The clients came to us with a front landscape of eroded asphalt along a steep slope that regularly accumulated standing water along the front of the home. These conditions posed dangerous trip hazards, potential foundation damage, and sent stormwater runoff directly into the roots of a heritage live oak tree. Our team thoughtfully designed new pedestrian walkways for improved safety, a gravel ‘parking plaza’ that absorbs and redirects stormwater to save the foundation and trees, and imparts a modern and uniquely Austin aesthetic.
