Tree Rooms

Trees each establish their own architectural form and the open space below them might be considered a room. Whether you are enveloped in the flowing, pendulous branches of a Weeping Willow, dappled light of a Quaking Aspen, or fragrant branches of a White Spruce, you are within a distinct and intimate space. Tree Rooms extends the drip-line of trees of all sizes and shapes as semi-transparent fabric sheathes, to further delimit their rooms. They are white on the exterior, and bursting with color on the interior. A hint of color peeks out at the entrance, enticing visitors to venture further and explore the unique program inside. Each is different, and inspired by interaction with trees, such as climbing, reclining, and being enveloped by waving pendulous branches. Tree Rooms is an entry by Courtney Goode for the Jardin Metis, 2016 edition.
